ART VS. MUSIC (MY INFLUENCES) VOLUME. 3
Aight, so I took a short break on my from Art Vs. Music Series I back on it with Volume 3. So, in Volume 3. I decided to talk about an artist and business mogul. I have been following this artist since I was in 8th Grade (Myrtle Ave. School in Irvington NJ.). Yup, so when I was in 8th Grade I use to be in love with the illustrations and designs of Marc Ecko. He use to do these really crazy designs on T-shirts and when you purchased one it came with a mixtape that had several underground and highlighted hip-hop artists. I used to love that so much but as his clothing line continued to grow. I continued to follow his beatifully polished work and his clothing line continued to grow. So, made it through highschool and two years of Junior College. I ended I applied to Rutgers University and I spent sometime there. When I 1st arrived at Rutgers University I was doing trying to do business school that didn't work out to well. So, I got in the communication school. Once I got in the Communication school I got an intership with Rocawear and I some design work and stylist work under Michelle Joyce ( She used to do all the Marketing stuff for NOTORIUS B.I.G. and Diddy (known as Puff back then). The people at Rocawear offered me a job but I was afraid to try interning in the NYC and being a full-time student. So, after the summer I just went back to rutgers and I got an Internship at Rutgers University Press doing lay-outs for Books and Magazines. So, as a result I started doing graphics heavy and I use to be doing art and graphcs. I use to work with this girl on campus named Alicia Piller (www.designsbyaliciap.com) she's originally from Chicago(That's funny because I'm presently in Chicago as I type this Vol.3) So we became cool and we would talk all the time at work. So, she started questioning my why I wasn't in MGSA the Art School at Rutgers. University. I kept ignoring her at first, but she kept asking me. So, finally I told her if she would shut up about it that I would apply. I did and now I'm doing all kinds of graphics work. She also was the one who informed me that one of my favorite artists Marc Ecko went to Rutgers. So, now I felt like I really had something in common with Marc Ecko which helped me to push forward as an artist. He's done some much he own's several brands, has his own magazine, and video game. Seriously what's not to like about him one day I just want to accomplish the same. Thanks, Marc for all the inspiration.
